Log every ugly house, or filter while you're still in the car?

Third Saturday out and my list is bloated. I photograph anything with peeling paint and a full mailbox, which means I came home with 41 addresses and maybe 9 of them are actually distressed enough that an owner would talk to me at a discount. The other 32 are just houses with tired paint.

Two ways to run it and I've seen people argue both hard.

Log everything. You're driving anyway, the marginal cost of one more tap is nothing, and you can't tell from the curb whether the owner is three years behind on taxes or just cheap about landscaping. Sort it later at a desk with the county records open. The bigger the raw pool, the more the ranking work has to bite on.

Filter in the car. Every address you log costs you money the second you mail it, and time when you skip trace it. If you only log the ones you'd genuinely want under contract, your mail budget goes to the top of the pile instead of being spread thin across 41 houses that mostly aren't leads.

I've done it both ways and my results are too small a sample to tell me anything. What do you actually do on a live route?
