Part 107 myself, or keep paying a pilot per shoot?
I've been pricing out what marketing costs on the first deal and the aerial line is the one I can't settle. Two paths in front of me.
Path one, I get certified. The knowledge test has a fee, there's study time, and a drone that shoots usable footage is somewhere north of a thousand dollars for the body alone before spare batteries. Then every shoot after that is my time and nothing else. Confirm the current test and registration requirements with the FAA directly, since I'm going off what I read a few weeks ago.
Path two, I hire it. Local quotes I've collected run roughly $250 to $450 for a listing package depending on acreage and whether video is included. No study, no gear, no worrying about whether I'm flying somewhere I shouldn't be. But it's a per-deal cost forever, and if I end up doing eight or ten listings a year it starts looking like I bought a drone anyway and let someone else keep it.
What I can't judge is whether being a mediocre pilot with a certificate produces footage anyone wants to look at. So put it to the room.
If you're an operator doing under a dozen listings a year, which way?
