Monthly updates are making me more nervous than quarterly ones
I've been reading two sponsors' updates side by side while I work out what I'd be signing up to owe investors on a first deal.
One sends about 300 words every month. Most months are a version of "no material change," and then one month a roof repair got two paragraphs and the whole thing read like panic. The other sends six pages a quarter with a rent roll summary and the loan covenant test spelled out.
The monthly one has me more uneasy, which is the opposite of what I expected going in. So is cadence actually a retention lever, or is the content doing all of the work and cadence just gets argued about? And what does 12 updates a year across even three deals cost in labor before you're big enough to hire someone for it?
