Asked to drive by six addresses for $50 each and report back. No fee if he buys.
An investor I met through a contractor I know sent me six addresses and asked me to go look at each one, take exterior photos, note whether it looks occupied, and tell him if there's obvious damage. He'll pay $50 per address, $300 total, whether he does anything with them or not.
What he was clear about: no fee if he buys any of them. The $50 is the whole payment.
Six addresses are spread across maybe 25 miles, so it's most of a Saturday with gas. $300 for a day isn't nothing. But I'd assumed the way this worked was you get paid when a deal closes, and I don't know if I'm being offered a decent first gig or being used as cheap labor while the real money sits somewhere I can't see.
I also don't know whether saying yes to this makes it awkward to ask for a finder's fee later on leads I find myself.
