How many deals before an LP book stops being a bet on one sponsor?
Working through sizing and I keep landing somewhere unsatisfying. Say 400k to deploy over roughly three years, minimums of 50k, so call it eight positions. If I spread eight checks across two sponsors I've got real sponsor concentration. Across eight sponsors I've done eight sets of diligence and I know none of them well, and I've probably got some first-time operators in there just to fill the count. Across four sponsors, two deals each, feels like a compromise nobody would defend on purpose. Is there a number people have actually settled on, and does it change if the eight deals are all multifamily in the southeast?
